Another storming Sunday of hockey from Bicester Under 12s teams at last weekends Oxford 'Super 7s' Festival. All 3 teams played some fantastic hockey, with the Girls team winning their group outright and Boys 'B' team making it out of a tough group to make the semis on points having won 3 out of 4 games.
The Girls were the only non-Hawks team to make the semi-finals, and faced what turned out to be the eventual tournament winners in a tough semi-final (losing 3-0). They faces Hawks 'A' in the 3rd/4th place play-off - who Bicester had beaten 2-1 in the group phase - and it turned out to be another close game that Hawks won 1-0 this time. Some great hockey played and a great improvement shown since the girl's last match, so well done all!
A very young Boys 'A' team, that included 4 x U10s, played some great attacking hockey against some older and more experienced competition. They more than held their own and showed some great potential for the future. No semi-final place this time, but it will definitely come in the near future!
The Boys 'B' team faced Oxford 'A' in their semi-final, which turned out to be a close fought affair that Bicester won 1-0 with some impressive attacking and committed defending. On to a final against Hawks 'A' who had been the 'in form' team of the tournament. We had already faced Hawks in the pool phase and suffered a 5-0 loss. Could we do better this time? Well unfortunately not, as the score line proved to be the same again! A silver medal was a great effort (finishing 2nd out of 14 teams) to top off a day where Bicester teams played some fantastic hockey across all age groups. Well done everyone!!
